The process of powder injection molding applies the shaping advantages of plastic injection molding to other engineering materials, including metals, alloys, and ceramics. The advanced technology of powder injection molding allows us to extend the the material capabilities to more advanced materials. This process uses a small amount of organic binder with the desired amount of inorganic powder to create a moldable feedstock, which can be formed into complex shapes by a process similar to plastic injection molding. After molding, the organic portion is extracted and the shaped part is consolidated to near full density. This is done by the thermal process known as sintering. During this process, the part undergoes significant shrinkage, which is designed in the tooling. In some cases, it is necessary to perform post-sinter grinding or polishing operations. Our unique approach of powder injection molding makes our company the right choice for all your shaping needs.
